Online Examination Helps To Reduce Students Load

Does excessive focus on the exam system really help the students to excel in life? And how does school exam assist the children to learn challenges? Some argue in favor and a few against it. Though, assessment of the students are essential but too much of stress might not serve the real purpose of education. Excess emphasis on the exam can cause anxiety among the students. While institutes increase the burden of the exam, the learner remains to focus on improving the grade. This may develop the habit of memorization instead of understanding the lesson. Moreover, the students tend to develop health related issues beneath severe stress.

There is little doubt on the effectiveness of the online learning. Being the most flexible platform for learning it offers convenience for selecting the time of learning. Students living in any part of the world can take distance learning via online from top institutes.

Are We Moving In The Right Direction?

Some time it implies that institutes device exam as a tool to engage students to serious learning. But does it really serve the ultimate goal? In the real world, when we grow up, struggle to find a suitable job. Being new at first job the work responsibility seems like bending iron. My question is - Why can't we introduce an assessment system based on similar circumstances faced at profession? Parents educate their children with a purpose of securing their future. But if we consider the modern world job criteria how does passing exam with rote learning help? I think the time has come when parents should step in and ask raise question why institutes stress on taking exam constantly.

Passing The Exam

The word “exam” does not embolden the students. It, indeed, gives them cold. Passing the exam with high score tops priority of the learner. This shifts their focus to quick learning or we better say rote memorization of contents. Now the question arises- How does the c help the students to understand the topic or subject? Do we really remember what we rote? If yes, then for how long such information remains stored in our memory? These questions really required to be answered by the educational institutes, especially the schools.

Exam Stress Harming Health

There are thousands of survey and reports which says how exam stress has affected the mental and
physical balance of the students. A survey conducted with 1300 in the UK by the ChildLine National Exam Stress shows that 96% felt anxious about exams and revision. The stress of exam forced students to take smoking and drugs. Moreover, students harmed themselves to avert exam distress. Due to the anxiety of exam students miss proper intake of food. Besides, during the exam students study till early morning, hence, lack of sleep could have an adverse effect on health.

Reconsider The Old Habit

The online education system has to evolve keeping the reality in consideration. However, lots of  improvement in education but still many practices of education need alteration to spread the benefits of online education. Schools and other educational institutes have to evaluate and reconsider if their exam pattern is putting heavy burden on the learner. I am not saying to abolish exam system. But it's utmost substantial that there is no additional burden of the exam on the students. Let's devise an education system where assessment exists but does not force learners to develop odd habits.

Technology is the pen and paper of our time, and we have a generation growing up in a digital world.”

Focus On Knowledge

In the online learning, the focus lies solely on the education. Instead of relying on the , unlike classroom teaching, concrete erudition of the students are focal point in e-learning. With the digital gadgets like- smart phones and tablet students can attend class. To make sure that all the learning material is available to the student schools and colleges have to bring in the e-library. The online library would be easy to access at convenient time and place.

About this Ayuk-Tabe says, “The difference between KOHA and Google is that KOHA helps to arrange database and filter non-academic materials.”

Following The Popular Trend

Nigeria has to adapt online learning in more wider perspective aiming to develop the economy of the country. The schoolchild need utmost attention so that their education is not compromised. Also, considering the rise population, online learning should be introduced in the schools. Since there is lack of resources in Nigeria to build the educational infrastructure, e-learning can offer great assistance catering education to the schoolchild. Online learning would allow the drop-out students to work and attend learning sessions simultaneously.

Inadequate Infrastructure Upsets South Africa Schools

The education system in South Africa faces lots of challenges. The racism, unorganized teaching, poor school infrastructure, lack of quality education requires immediate attention.

To obtain crucial position on global map the government of South Africa will have to ensure mass participation from different quarter of the society to eradicate inequality for the implementation of progressive education policy.

The South African government will have to safeguard the education system and implement the policy with equality. Post 1994, however, the government has exerted effort on teacher training programme, ensuring quality education is provided and also focused on building better school infrastructure. Nonetheless, even today the faults within the current system is existing.

The Corrosive Concern

Inequality in South Africa still predominate in the diverse society affecting the educational activity in the country . The final show of the 12th grade students shows that inequality still exists. Professor Ruksana Osman, dean of humanities, University of the Witwatersrand, says poor children bear the brunt of bad teaching, disorganized administration and a lack of resources.

French economist Thomas Pikkety, Professor of Economics at the Paris School of Economics has delivered the 13th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture in Johannesburg. His comprehensive writing on inequality in education has thrown light on the different facet to eradicate disparity.

Academic and author John Marsh in his book Class Dismissed says, 'So yes, by all means fix schools, reward good teachers … end the soft bigotry of low expectations. The problem, however, is when our notion of social and economic justice starts and stops with education (…) This is dangerous talk – dangerous because by wrong assignment of causes, it persuades that the cure is possible.'

Like Pikkeety and Marsh many other eminent writers and authors have shown the path to fight and remove the inequality. South Africa simply needs to apply these ideas into real terms.

Building The Infrastructure

The most basic element of education system is the infrastructure. The proper infrastructure ensures appropriate environment of learning. The successful implementation of education through series of programme and activity depends on the infrastructure of the school.

There are several issues which raises questions on the effort to provided learning friendly environment. The factors affecting the favorable functioning in school are:

  • Insufficient study materials
  • Poor and unstructured teaching
  • Inability to run school administration
  • No science labs
  • Absence of toilets
  • Lack of teaching resources

The Need Of Robust School Foundation

The recently conducted survey shows that vigorous school infrastructure leads greater impact on the individuals, says Ruksana Osman leading to better academic performance. Survey reveals that pupil with solid academic foundation has fair chance in terms of better earning.

Adult Education In South Africa

There is a necessity to provide education to the adults. The development of educationally and financially deprived section needs serious attention. These section of the society should be equipped with industry oriented vocational training and education. This would contribute to their financial evolution.
Share your opinion on how South Africa can rise above inequality and provide quality education to financially weaker section of the society.

The Transcession

To attain the overall development, government will have to germinate uniformity regardless of gender, caste and class in the society. Inequality makes poverty reduction more challenging causing conflicts and violence affecting the economic growth of South Africa. Hence, elimination of inequality and building and implantation of progressive educational policy is utmost essential.

Technology Becomes The Supporting Force In Education

We have already got such a form of education where the combination of technology and innovation produces effectiveness. Surprisingly, this effectiveness is not only benefiting the students but is also providing a lot of privileges to the teachers. Thus, it can be said that the technology brought a wave of change in both learning and teaching.

Mobile Technology Advances Education

It is certain, that the mobile technology assists much in the representation of the digital learning. A student can easily follow the lessons or the educational content in a mobile device such as a smartphone or a tablet. The fact of connectivity of the devices that leads to the access to the data for students’ benefits is the main point of interest. Education will be more socialised and globalised. Now there is the traditional group of pupils and in the future, there will be the community of online students. Such a concept has already been inaugurated by the MOOCs.

The Cloud Cooperates With The Education Sector

With the help of the cloud, the teachers as well as the students can get an access to the collection of the grades. The students can also get to access the grades through the mobile devices such as a computer; a smartphone or a tablet. Educational social network like Edmodo is the provider of such educational services.

Personalised Learning Environment For Students

The students get to learn in their own way in this mode of learning. It enables them to learn what they specifically want. Getting the information in a more customised ay make them more interested in learning.Students enrolled in online schools for business may search on any relevant topics on business.

Availability Of Education

The cloud helps the students to learn anytime and anywhere. These extra facilities can be available for them if only they have a steady internet connection. The online school is an epitome of such educational system that provides such availability of education.

Students Own Their Learning

The cloud also helps the students to own their learning. With the help of the concept of ‘flipped classrooms’ the teachers can upload any learning materials for the students which they can access with the help of the mobile devices.

Social Learning

The applications and documents in the cloud like Google Apps increase the students’ social form of learning. A cooperative mentality is developed during these process as the students together handle the technology and not alone.

What Do The Schools Need?

The schools do require an overall modification as it will be equipped with technology. The educators and the other staff members of the school should all be well trained in technological implements otherwise their ignorance may lead to other problems.

Let’s Get Prepared

Many of the schools have already inaugurated the process of digitisation. But more than the mentioned institutions still have not been able to apply the technical methods to their classrooms. This will not only offer innovation but also will shape the minds of the learners in a more effective way than the previous form. How can technology support schools? If it is allowed to shake hands with them.

The Hospitality Industry Brings Chances Of Empowerment In Africa

Africa is the continent which has actually invited what we call development as it is eager to do so. This is evident as because the one of the countries in the continent, Ghana has the possibility of developing its hospitality industry as the probability of it originates from the growing natural resources and commercial centres. This improvement is quite prominent as the global brands are expanding their reign in the country. Brands include Four Seasons; Radisson Blu; Protea Hotels and Marriott.

The HTI Consultancy Says

Wayne Troughton, founder and CEO of hospitality and property consulting firm HTI Consulting, thinks that Ghana; Mozambique; Ethiopia; Nigeria; Kenya; Angola and Tanzania are the countries having significant scopes for the development of the hospitality industry.

Source:bit.ly/1FxTaJW
Significantly, it will also pave the way for the improvement of job scopes and the learners need the hospitality management courses only.He also added the role of the frontier market that appeared from the conflict is one of the important factors for such development.

He said "Frontier markets, post-conflict states... a lot of them don't even have one decent hotel. So there are a lot of opportunities." Ten years of develop consulting has been improved by the HTI consulting in 35 countries of the continent and the countries of the Middle East. This can effectively help the online learners as an online hospitality management courses will allow them to study from anywhere in the world.

The Reason Of Such Flourish

Troughton says that the identification of the continents potential by the investors and the foreign companies will pave the way for the increase of the post-conflict market.

He commented "These are markets that they typically didn't want to look at five years ago but now, because their footprint has increased in some of the other major markets, they are now looking at these frontier markets and there is good opportunities for them because these markets are crying out for one or two good hotels.”

He added “And their first mover advantage is quite important because if you get in with a new hotel development it can often stop the development of others until demand picks up. These markets are coming out of conflict and some of them have found oil but the GDP growth is in the very early stages of growth, so they are in their infancy in terms of economic lifecycle."

Why Do Africa Need Conferences?

The hospitality management courses will empower  lots of poor students. But how? Troughton thinks that the continent wants conferences. According to him, the governments and the countries are hopefully willing to inaugurate the hotel industry as the convention centres activates it.

He says "It's one of the markets in Africa - what we call the MICE market (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) - which is largely untapped... I think it's a hot topic that governments and countries are looking at developing international convention centres as a means of attracting, and also stimulating, hotel demand. In Mozambique they are looking at it at the moment. In Rwanda they are busy constructing a large international convention centre."

Mixed-Use Improvement

Mixed-used improvement advances the commercial improvement in a collaborative way.For instance, a hotel inside a shopping mall will generate 15%-20% more revenue than a hotel that is individual. He also pointed out that the old, undeveloped and distressed buildings can be handed over to the investors and they can make good profit out of it as it means less expenditure and more earning.

Go With The Demand

It is significant that the continents countries will witness an unimaginable change if the requirements according to relevancy are tried to reach. Added to that, the online hospitality management courses provide the students the opportunity to learn and get employed no matter wherever they are in this world. it only needs the countrymen not only to wake but also to walk.

This will help such students to communicate and interact with normal children as much as possible.

Afterwards, another session was held by Santha specifically for parents of students with special needs. Once she interacted with all the parents, she requested them to share their feelings about being the parent of a student with special needs.

Simmi Santha told the parents that they should deal with special children with much love, care and affection. She motivated all the parents by providing them important suggestions and requested them personally to accept their kids just the way they are. At the conclusion of the event, Ram Santhanam, president of the SMC, said “The workshop on inclusive education is a service.”

How NSFAS Can Help ‘Missing Middle’ Students In South Africa

The value of higher education cannot be underplayed as it is essential not only for personal development, but also for overall economic growth in countries worldwide. Hence, every government make sure that it takes all the necessary steps to improve the state of higher education and make it accessible for everyone, whether rich or underprivileged.

Perhaps, it is for this reason the Higher Education Department in South Africa is currently searching for helpful ways that will enable it to offer funding to learners who are from families with too much family income to become eligible for the NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme), but not adequate enough to financially support tertiary education.

Funding ‘missing middle’ students

Dr. Blade Nzimande, Minister for Higher Education and Training in South Africa, recently spoke about the issue while speaking at a media meeting in Parliament to announce the appointment of Sizwe Nxasana, outgoing FirstRand CE, as the chairman of the scheme. He said that the problem could result in unwanted and corrupt practices at the financing sphere. The Higher Education Minister claimed that many students who are unable to meet the funding criteria of the scheme often look for fraudulent means to access it due to their desperation.

The high demand for education is currently overtaking the allocated cash meant for the education funding scheme, even though the government is providing more finance to it in the last 5 years. The scheme receives an adequate portion of the entire budget of the department, which is at around R39 billion for 2014-2015. From this amount, the state funding vehicle received about R9.5 billion and it is predicted that the amount will increase to R46.3 billion in 2017-2018. But the department is currently guessing that this evident funding gap in higher education, especially at university level, through the 2016 medium-term expenditure framework may be around R35 billion.

Coping with challenges

However, the distribution of loans for the scheme’s has become the central reason for aggressive student protests in various college campuses across the nation in the past few years as a result of the lack of funding. According to Dr. Nzimande, the students who are considered the so-called “missing middle” are children whose family income is more than the benchmark of the scheme, presently set at R122,000 per year. These students realised they were trapped in a rather desperate situation.

He said “I have asked (the scheme) to look into this issue. I am told the report was submitted on Monday. It’s ... your ordinary civil servant. Your teacher, your nurse, your police (officer) who are earning slightly more than (R122,000).” More details about the report regarding how the “missing middle” students may receive funding will become available once further discussions are conducted with different government stakeholders.

Need for identifying corruption

The South African Higher Education Minister recently said that the department was unable to identify how widely corruption had spread across the scheme, “but we have a lot of anecdotal evidence.”
Dr. Nzimande added “We need to tap into that.... We hope that Mr Nxasana’s background is even more of an advantage, particularly to reach out to business to make additional contributions.”

Can An MBA Help You Achieve Your Career Goals?

Are you aspiring to be a manager? Or looking forward to move into leadership roles? Want to change your career field or planning to become a business owner? If you wish to move your career forward then an MBA can certainly provide an edge and help you accomplish your career goals faster and more easily. By studying an MBA you will get to develop various business & management skills, “like the fundamentals of finance and how it ties a business together,” according to Peter von Loesecke, CEO and managing director of The MBA Tour, which hosts various events worldwide.

Why study MBA

Being an MBA student you will acquire comprehensive knowledge about various aspects of a business like marketing, finance, economics, business strategy, human resource management, ethics, that will better enable you to run an organisation successfully. Through a series of group projects, case studies, networking and even real world experiences you will develop the essential skills that will enhance your business perspective and acumen.
Von Loesecke said “An MBA will teach you to think holistically when solving problems. In today’s business world, you have to learn how to look at the influences, work in groups under pressure, make decisions, even when the facts aren’t clear, and be flexible enough to change those decisions when needed.”

Scott Shrum, director of MBA admissions at graduate school admissions consulting company Veritas Prep, said that an MBA “degree is designed to help you think more as a manager should - critically, strategically and globally. But one of the best reasons to get an MBA is the exposure you will gain to people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. Your network will grow and you’ll learn a lot. That exposure has lasting business value.”

Changing environment

However, if you think that earning an MBA degree means you will instantly land a high paying job with a swanky corner office then you might be expecting too much. Although it might have been true earlier, but after the last financial crisis the whole scenario has changed drastically.

Von Loesecke said “Before 2001, companies would hire new MBA grads even without a defined slot for them. They’re more judicious about hiring now, and 'employability,’ plays a large part in getting into schools and getting hired afterward.” I should mention that here 'employability' refers to relevant work experience which most employers tend to value more these days than a college degree. Shrum added “We’ve been seeing a trend of education inflation for some time. Two generations ago, a college degree was impressive. A generation ago, a graduate degree was impressive. Now everyone has a bachelor’s degree and many people have graduate degrees.”

So is the MBA still worth it?

Shrum believes that it is. He added “Yes, it’s still a good career investment if you choose the right program, for the right reasons and have realistic expectations.” However, first you need to gain some work experience, he said. Shrum continued “Future employers want to know what you have done and accomplished. They’re looking for talent and results. If you go straight to grad school from college, you’ll lack real-world experience, yet still expect a higher MBA salary when you get out. That’s a mismatch in today’s job market.”

Then what should you do?

If you ask me, the answer is simple, yet effective. Nowadays, online top up MBA courses have gained immense popularity due to quality education, affordability, flexibility and the numerous benefits it offers to the learners. Moreover, with rising tuition fees at B-schools and universities across the globe, more and more aspiring managers are now opting for online MBA. But how does it help you?

Apart from the providing you excellent learning opportunities and a cost-effective way to earn a degree, these courses offer high levels of flexibility and convenience. Hence, you can opt to work and study simultaneously and gain relevant work experience in your preferred industry. As the content and materials are easily accessible and available online, you can choose to study at night, at your leisure or while you are on the go and still manage time to work a full time job. Earning a recognised top up MBA degree from a reputed university in UK will also help you to get better opportunities and boost your employability. Now most employers accept and recognise top up MBA from UK universities as these provide high quality business education and offer accredited qualifications.

So if you are gearing up for a lucrative career in business management and wish to climb up the career ladder without any hassles then it's time you get enrolled for an online MBA course.
